Bangladesh tour
The long sea beach, the hills along Marine Drive and fresh seafood by the shore. Cox's Bazar is the classic Bangladeshi holiday, and a short flight makes it an easy long weekend from Dhaka.
The itinerary
A plan we know works well. Every part of it can change to suit your dates, your hotels and your pace.
Best time to go: November to March
Dry winter with a calm sea and soft sunsets.
Fly or take an overnight coach, check in near the beach and watch the sunset from the sand.
Drive the coastal road past Himchari to Inani beach, then the Burmese market in the evening.
An optional visit to the Buddhist temples of Ramu on the way, then back to Dhaka.
Not included: Travel from Dhaka by air, train or coach, booked on request; Meals not mentioned in the plan; Entry tickets and personal expenses.
Good to know
Currents can be strong. Swim only at guarded beaches and follow the flags.
Hotels fill up in December, January and around Eid. Book as soon as your dates are fixed.
The flight is about an hour, which leaves more time on the beach than the long road trip.
Our Cox's Bazar trip runs 3 days and 2 nights, which covers beach break on the Bay of Bengal. It is easy to add a night or two if you prefer a slower pace.
